extracurriculars

At The Big Red Barn Christian Academy, we’ve found that the more we offer children, the more excited they are to learn, engage, and explore. We believe kids learn best when they can move their bodies and experience education in many different ways. That’s why we bring in a variety of weekly programs designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and deepen each child’s love for school and learning.

Music for Munchkins with Altitunes

This partnership program gives children hands-on opportunities to explore different instruments while building a love for music and movement. Kids will sing, play, and move to the beat while learning rhythm, coordination, and self-expression in a joyful, engaging way.

Altitunes has been providing early childhood music classes in the Denver area for over seven years. Their classes are developed by music therapists and music educators, and each session includes movement, instrument play, singing/vocalizing, and social connection in a fun, supportive environment.

Creative Critters

Creative Critters is led by Laura Goodrich, a Big Red Barn parent and our in-house art teacher. Laura holds a master’s degree in education and brings a passion for early childhood art into every lesson. Children will experiment with a variety of materials and techniques to create their own masterpieces while learning the basics of the “science of art” along the way.

Storytime with the Librarian

Children go on magical adventures through literature with our community librarian. With fun, engaging stories, they’ll build imagination, strengthen listening skills, and grow their love for reading while developing early narrative and comprehension abilities.

Tiny Tots Dance

This partnership program helps children build a love for dance through positive, age-appropriate instruction. Throughout each session, children begin learning foundational dance skills while building confidence and friendships with their fellow dancers. Families can also look forward to an annual recital.

Tippi Toes is a high-energy, non-competitive dance program designed to help children have fun while gaining new skills. Their curriculum supports progress from beginner to confident dancer, with instructors who bring joy, creativity, and encouragement to every class.

Silly Scientists

Silly Scientists is designed to ignite excitement for all things science. From matter and mass to outer space, nature, and simple chemistry reactions, children will explore a wide range of topics through interactive experiments. Along the way, they’ll practice making predictions, observing results, and drawing conclusions in a way that feels fun and inspiring.

Running Rascals

Created by personal trainer Colby Chrisman, Running Rascals focuses on building a love for physical activity through exposure to a wide variety of sports and movement. Children may explore activities such as soccer, baseball, field hockey, basketball, yoga, football, volleyball, and more, helping them develop coordination, confidence, teamwork, and healthy habits.

Simply Spanish

Simply Spanish is led by our own Pre-K teacher, Ms. Jenny, and introduces children to the basics of Spanish in a fun, engaging way. Through songs, stories, movement, and interactive activities, children learn the alphabet, colors, numbers, and simple commands—while strengthening memory, listening skills, and social connection at the same time.
